Helmut Newton (born Helmut Neustädter; 31 October 1920 – 23 January 2004) was a German-Australian photographer. Newton was born in Berlin but then fleed via train at Zoo station towards Trieste in 1938. He took two stills cameras and finds work in Singapore at the Singapore Straits Times. In 1947 Newton meets actress June Brunell who poses as a model for him, they go on to marry one year later. In 1956 Newton extends his travel through Europe, he acquires a one year contract at British Vogue. Newton then goes to French Vogue under the new editor-in-chief francine crescent. Newton had his first Exhibition in 1975 at the Nikon gallery in Paris, the year after he releases a book 'White Women'. Helmut Newton dies in Los angeles in a car accident when his car sped out of control, The Helmut Newton Foundation is opened shortly following his death
