For this shot on the right we needed to make it slightly brighter because it was hard to see Gabriel in the window. One thing I like about this shot is the slight yellow tint coming from the light by Gabriel's head. This draws the viewer to him as the rest of the frame is dark and the yellow is a colour you frequently see in Tarantino's work. | One important thing that we needed to do was colour correction. Today we went over each clip and played about with them to see what looked best. For the shot on the left we needed to make it slightly darker because of the strong light coming from the window. As you can see in the picture the window is over exposed. Although I think that this works because it allows the viewer to concentrate on the two actors. |

One common theme for Quentin Tarantino films is to have a wide aspect ratio. This is because it is visually pleasing and gives it more of a film look.
It was quite time consuming adding the black bars because you have to change the offset on each clip so it does not cover anything you wanted in the shot, for example the top of someones head. I believe that it was worth adding the bars because it gives it more of a film look and made the framing tighter making it more intense. One reason why we used the Edit Suite for this shot is because of the yellow walls. In many Tarantino films he uses yellows, one example is Uma Thurman's uniform in Kill Bill. |
